Talks to Git through the CLI only

GitTune reads and writes exclusively through the git config --global CLI. It never parses or rewrites ~/.gitconfig itself — whatever Git understands, GitTune understands.

git config --global user.namegit config --global user.email

Why GitTune

One job, done well.

Edit your global identity

View and change global user.name and user.email — hit Save and they are written straight to your Git config.

Material-styled UI

A native-feeling Material interface built with Slint — clear, tactile, and fast.

CLI-safe by design

Every operation goes through git config --global. Your .gitconfig file is never parsed or rewritten directly.

Signing & defaults

v1.1 adds GPG signing controls, signing-key management, default branch name, and signing defaults.

Set up in three steps

From download to config in under a minute.

1

Download & launch

Grab the archive for your platform, extract it, and launch GitTune.

2

Edit your details

Fill in the Name and Email fields with your Git identity.

3

Hit Save

GitTune runs the commands below. Verify them from a terminal at any time.

Verify in your terminal:

$ git config --global user.name "Your Name"
$ git config --global user.email "you@example.com"

$ git config --global user.name
$ git config --global user.email
